Founded in 2019, Humans Are Vain is a footwear company born of a rebellion against fast fashion norms. With circular design at its core, the company produces on-trend boots and sneakers from innovative materials such as apple leather and recycled ocean plastic. When the shoes are worn out, customers can send them back to the company, where they will be ground down and turned into new footwear.
Humans Are Vain has been awarded ethy’s Industry Champion ecolabel for its pioneering work with Stockholm University, developing solutions for textile waste that typically cannot be recycled. The partnership led to the creation of the world’s first shoe 3D printed from recycled textile waste in 2021, reducing the number of components in a pair of shoes from 30 to as few as two. The company is now working on scaling up the technology to include a wider variety of styles and materials and is planning to launch a range of products in 2024.
All of Humans Are Vain’s products are fully recyclable! So make sure to check out how to recycle them by sending them back to Humans Are Vain, so new products can be made from the material rather than filling up the landfill.
