The Name Label Company does exactly what it says on the tin, making a wide variety of personalised stick-on and iron-on labels for clothes and school stationery.
The female-led, UK-based company has put sustainability at the heart of its operations, making a number of commitments to achieving carbon positive status and reducing waste. It measures and monitors its carbon footprint, and uses Gold Standard certified offsets. It also swapped out plastic and bubble wrap for paper bags and recyclable starch packaging pellets, and returns all of its packaging to its manufacturing partners.
The Name Label Company has also been recognised by ethy for its contribution to Thriving Communities standards. Employees are empowered to put forward ideas, which have included a weekly low-carbon day where employees carpool, walk or cycle to work. This has worked so well that one of the employee’s sustainable ideas is now put into production: a new energy-saving iron-on label. This innovative design needs only 6-8 seconds of ironing compared to previous labels that needed three applications of 15 seconds.
The company also donates to a local food bank in its hometown of Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, and is a key supporter of Ratidzo Trust, which helps disadvantaged and vulnerable people in Zimbabwe.
