Birchall Tea is an award-winning brand that specialises in sourcing and producing high-quality black teas. Their teas are sourced exclusively from Tea estates across East Africa and are hand-picked from tea bushes grown in lush volcanic soil and ideal conditions. As a result, their teas are known for their bright, delicious and full flavour. Birchall also creates beautifully balanced fruit and herbal blends for their speciality teas.

Birchall Tea has been awarded ethy verification for its commitment towards a Stable Climate, Clean Planet, Responsible Resource Usage & Production, Protecting Biodiversity & Animal Welfare and Thriving Communities. In May 2020, Birchall Tea became the first tea company in the world to officially join the UN’s Climate Neutral Now Initiative and achieved the Carbon Neutral International Standard. They measure and offset their greenhouse gas emissions and support verified volunteer reforestation projects around the world.

Birchall Tea also boasts the UK's first solar-powered tea factory in Amesbury, Wiltshire. With more than 460 solar panels, the roof-top solar installation generates all the renewable electricity required for the factory's on-site operations, setting a new standard for sustainability.

Birchall Tea is also committed to reducing single-use plastic, having made significant changes across their product lines in 2019 to reduce excess and single-use plastic from their supply chain. They introduced new plant-based everyday tea bags made from a newly-developed plant-based tissue that is entirely free from oil-based plastic, and new biodegradable loose leaf tea pouches that are industrially compostable.

From a social perspective, Birchall Tea has met ethy's Thriving Communities standards for its fair trade certified teas and its annual charitable donations to the Virunga Foundation (5p for every pack of their Virunga tea sold).
