Our Standards
ethy's framework takes a deep dive into six core paths which represent the most pressing sustainability challenges, and offer the widest opportunities to have a positive impact on people, animals and the planet. These are the paths leading us towards a sustainable future.
Reduced Plastic
The organisation is taking significant action towards reducing the use of virgin and recycled plastics in its products, packaging and operations.
Criteria
- While the company's products and packaging may not be fully plastic-free, notable steps have been taken to reduce the use of plastics, especially the use of virgin plastics.
- Bioplastics certified as industrially compostable (e.g. starch-based polylactic acid (PLA) or polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA)) are excluded and can be used.
- The organisation has undertaken a plastic audit within the last 12 months.
- There are measures and policies in place to minimise the use of plastics across offices or workspaces, e.g. employers providing refill water stations and removing single use catering plastics etc.
- Brick & mortar shops do not sell plastic carrier bags.
- Activities of the company can not be related to extracting oil, fossil fuels or either selling plastics (excluding industrially compostable bioplastics).
