Community Clothing

Community Clothing was founded by Patrick Grant, award winning clothing designer and judge on BBC One’s The Great British Sewing Bee.

Community Clothing was established with a simple goal; to sell great quality affordable clothes and by doing so create jobs and help restore economic prosperity in some of the UK’s most deprived areas. Community Clothing are about 'clothing NOT fashion'. They pride themselves on excellence over newness and fight against fast-fashion with their menswear, womenswear and unisex clothing. Community Clothing also ensure local garment production, which means more traceability and a reduced carbon footprint.

The brand is especially selective about the materials they use. For example, they source Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified cotton grown by Hakan Organic in Sanliurfa in Turkey for their heavy jersey products.

They source the majority of denim from Isko in Turkey, arguably the worlds most sustainable premium denim mill. They have world leading environmental and sustainability credentials, including OEKO-TEx, GOTS and GRS certification, with 100% of their cotton from traceable sources in Turkey. They are also a leader in the use of recycled cotton in their denim and Community Clothing are currently testing denim with an up to 50% recycled material. Find out more here about the materials they use and the materials they have banned.

The brand is proud about what they have achieved so far:

"And the work we are doing is having the positive impact we desired. The factories we are working with are seeing a much brighter future. They are hiring and training staff, they’re investing in new technology and equipment, and they’re paying higher wages. So far we’ve created over 200,000 hours of skilled work in UK factories, that’s the equivalent of well over 100 years of full time employment. And we’ve only just begun. With your help we think we can create thousands of fulfilling, rewarding full-time jobs."
