For many of us, coffee is an integral part of our daily lives. But conventional coffee comes with a host of environmental and ethical concerns, such as wasteful packaging, environmental destruction, a significant carbon footprint and the exploitation of producers.
Alpaca Coffee was founded to address all of these concerns without compromising on quality coffee. Inspired by a trip to South America, founder Victoria set out on a quest to bring delicious coffee to our homes that's better for people and planet. ☕
Alpaca Coffee is better for people because they work with Fairtrade certified coffee suppliers as a minimum requirement. Moving forward they aim to transition towards a Direct Trade model that provides greater transparency and allows for more personal relationships with farmers.
Their coffee is better for the planet because they use 100% plastic free and compostable packaging, from labels and bags, all the way to shipping boxes and tape. To offset carbon emissions, Alpaca Coffee also plants a tree for every 10 bags of coffee sold, through their partnership with One Tree Planted. They also operate a zero-waste roastery, whereby they use locally collected, leftover coffee grounds to create biofuel that powers the coffee roaster!
